MB>MC

The worst thing about a good time, is that at some point it must end. And then we end up feeling like shit. HeHe.

Seriously though, We foresee that the good time will end. Sometimes we know the exact day and the exact hour of the day, yet we invest so much of our leisure time planning for those good moments. See its one of two things:

1) We are masochists.
2)Our marginal benefit from the good times exceeds our marginal costs stemming from the shitty feeling that follows.

I do not know about you, but I fall into category 2.
I had fought with boyfriend and stopped talking to him for a whole week. And I was never able to not talk to him (or at least call and yell my lungs out) at least 10 hours after the fight. But I meant it that time, I did not talk to him, He did not talk to me. Finally, he caved (Never , Ever, and I mean EVER Happened). It was actually the first time I was 80% sure he has feelings(not for me but in general). So, as a result of the great make up, I decided to go visit him for the long weekend. BIG MISTAKE.

But you know what? Its ok, My marginal benefit exceeded my Marginal Cost. And In Economics, That is good baby !

Issues

I have issues. Just like everyone else does.
I have recently figured out how to deal with them. A little over a month ago, I gave myself a mental slap, and told my self to get over myself. And for the most part, I did.

But What happens when that mental slap suddenly makes you question what you really value in life? Not that I never knew what I value in my life. One thing about my personality, is that I am almost always fully aware of what I want and will go out there and get it. But what I am asking here is, what if a mental slap makes you realize how your previous issues formed a wall between you and *new* values, and now that you are aware of this fact, you do not know how to go about it, because it was always something you pushed away.

I am not going to lie to you, I am as confused as you are. I read that sentence, it does not make sense. But a minute or so after, it so does.

Simplicity. Happiness in its most primitive form.
That's it. I never thought of it. It never occurred to me. "But it cant be, I am used to complications, How Can this be?" I ask myself.

I now seek the answer.

Let me get things out in the open. I hate Toronto.
Phew, it feels good to get it out every day around 3 times.

As Apparent from my blog, I have a problem with committing to a certain activity. I get into things the first few days and then easily get distracted and lured into the beauty of doing nothing. But this time; since I am stuck in an ugly smelly city, there really isn't much to get distracted by.

I will have a little bit of everything on this blog. Mostly judgments of random people, random beliefs. There will be some cool economics topics (mostly to keep myself in the loop with the academic stuff) and if I do keep up with my intentions, i plan on tackling a topic that has been in the news for a week or two. Thus keep you eyes open on a financial topic soon :).

State of Denial

Sometimes, people tend to piss me off....
People are different. I understand
People are exposed to different cultures and different beliefs..I understand
People are driven by different motives... I understand..
What I dont understand though, is the undelying Ostentation that each one holds on to like an everlasting salvation....
What I hate even more, is when this is based on aboslutely not a shred of a tangible accomplishment.
I am not mad at anyone, I seriously believe in people minding their own business. But Sometimes, I am intrigued by human behaviour, and the reasons behind their actions.
Lets take these scenarios:
1- A middle aged man, quite successful who is obviously going through an early middle life crisis, pompous about the party lifestyle he embarked upon as a reward for a week of hard work, buys himself a few "gifts" when he is bored, pretends he does not need anyone by his side, yet always seeking some sort of attention from people (not realising it).
2-Female, rebellious to traditions, not cultural beliefs, not religious beliefs, but what I would refer to as a normal person's traditions of allowing one self to seek happiness, sucess and love. Finds a reason to always gets of track: "I dont think im the kind of a faithful person", "I dont like my life in this city, but Im coping, what else Can I do?"

I mean, the solution to those two scenarios are very similar and simple. The first one obviously has a missing element. It seems to me that he has been satisfied so far with all of his accomplishments but always needs something more, always seeks to be better than everyone because in every other person's life, he sees his own missing element: a companion, to make his accomplishments meaningful to himself and to the world, to turn to someone when that attention is needed.
In the case of the female, she can not truly accomplish anything to her own good, She can not push herself to do anything that she wants to do because there is noone by her side to do it with. She hides behind her reason of disloyalty as a come back to her own unhappiness with her self and her own accomplishments, despite the fact that she knows for a fact she could be so much better that she allowed her self to be.

But Denial is a deadly weapon...

Light up that fire!

It is that time of year again. No , I dont mean the holiday season, I am talking about winter in this beautiful city.
I remember my first winter, I was very excited about the slushy snow/ rain; thinking this is what snow looks like ( I had never seen snow before in my life).
Let me tell you what winter means to me, a girl who is in love with Montreal.

Winter is when hot chocolate tastes like little drops of cherries dunked in heavenly wine; exciting your taste buds and warming your bloodstream gently. It is a beautiful lonely night when the darkness of the sky is reflected in the whitness of the earth, it is that tingly touch of snowflakes finding their way to your face. Winter is when you curl up infront of that little fireplace next to your loved ones.....It is knowing that no matter how dark things might look, you wake up the next day to realise that not only is there light at the end of the tunnel , but there is light everywhere.......My winter is not just winter..It is Montreal's Winter.....

It is also a little bit about gingerbread man, boots, coats , gloves and curling up with a warm blanket and a cup of tea!
